In Getty Images (US) Inc and others v Stability AI Ltd [2025] EWHC 2863 (Ch), the High Court handed down its much-awaited ruling in a claim brought by Getty Images (US) Inc and related companies against Stability AI regarding its deep-learning AI model Stable Diffusion. The court rejected Getty's claim that Stability AI's act of importing its diffusion model into the UK amounted to secondary infringement of copyright. It found that Getty partially succeeded in its trade mark infringement claim, but the findings were historic and limited in scope.
